ICC Anti-Corruption Unit Head Alex Marshall |
Lanka Premier League (LPL) tournament director Samantha Dodanwela said that it was customary for ICC members of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) to visit a country where there is a T20 League taking place.
“We have invited the ACU to be present at the ongoing LPL and they have sent their team of people which is good because when they come we are also clear in what we do,” said Dodanwela.
“Already Sunny Oberoi who is second in command at the ACU has been here from the first game and yesterday head of the ACU Alex Marshall arrived in Sri Lanka. We also invited an ACU official to be present for the Player Auction as well.”
Dodanwela said that an ACU team is always present wherever a T20 league is held, and that Sri Lanka Cricket officials will meet Marshall and his team of officials over the next couple of days.
The fourth edition of the LPL commenced on 23 July and will run till the finals on 23 August. The matches resume today at Pallekele after yesterday’s rest day with Colombo Strikers taking on Galle Titans at 3 p.m. and Dambulla Aura playing Jaffna Kings at 7.30 p.m. – (ST)
