The Asia Rugby Championship Under 19 event is scheduled to take place during the month of December 2020 with the hosting country yet to be announced.

This event will be used as a yardstick for the selection of the Asian team for the Junior Rugby World Tournament (Under 19) Division 1 which is scheduled to take place during mid-2021.

Sri Lanka got promoted from Division 1 which took place in China where they became champions. The outfit was led by former Royal skipper, Thulaib Hassen with Viper (jnr) Gunaratne coaching the outfit with Rajiv Perera and Rohitha Rajapakse assisting on tour.

Sri Lanka has participated in this world event two decades back in Chile.

Defending champions, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, South Korea and Taipei will play each other in the league event scheduled to take place on 6, 9 and 12 December.

With COVID-19 spreading across the world, a delayed start in the Schools Under 19 rugby is a glimmer of hope for players, sponsors and spectators.

With the Advanced Level examinations scheduled to take place in August 2020 a possibility is on the cards for a delayed start in September 2020 which could see off both League and Knock out which will give time for Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) to host the event in December 2020 in Sri Lanka.
