The Asian Rugby Championship 2017 Under-20 tournament will take place between Hong Kong and Sri Lanka in December this year.
The first leg will take place in Colombo on 10 December. The return leg will be played in Hong Kong on 16 December. The winner (on aggregate) will book their place at the Junior World Rugby Tournament (JWRT) 2018 from the Asian Zone.
Earlier known as the Rugby Asiad, where the top eight teams in Asia battle it out for supremacy, later on it was divided into a group of four with the promotion and relegation system conducted by the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU). The Sri Lanka national selectors are expected to name the initial squad in the near future for these two encounters.
