Former Royal College rugby player and one of the best young finds in the referee’s society, Aaqil Jamaldeen was rewarded for his hard work when he was selected by the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) as an assistant referee for the Asian Games 2018 which will take place in August this year in Indonesia.
Aaqil, who was in the ARFU Panel C earlier, underwent a training program in England and was later picked to officiate the Durham Schools final in 2017. This year, he refereed in the Malaysian Sevens and followed up with a workshop in Singapore. He is presently a World Rugby-qualified Level 2 match official. (SJ)
