Adithya Weerasinghe, 16 year old lad from Anuradhapura did Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Golf proud by ending 15th position only in his second tour overseas at the All India Junior Golf Championship at Bangalore delivering an exhilarating finish.
Krish Chawla and Angad Singh tied for first place in Segment A, both posting a top class gross score of 284. Meanwhile, Karthik Singh showed his exceptional form, not only winning Category B with a gross score of 275 but also claiming the overall championship across both categories.
Sri Lanka’s Adithya Weerasinghe demonstrated steady progress in his second international tournament played out of Sri Lanka. The youngster from Anuradhapura, now studying at Ananda College finishing 15th in segment A with a gross score of 297. His consistent one-over-par final round reflected his growing composure and competitive edge on the international stage. This is great news for Sri Lanka Golf identifying talent at a very young age.
Meanwhile Reshan Algama made a remarkable comeback in his final round, also carding a one-over-par to secure 20th place with a gross score of 308. Algama was playing two-under-par midway through the round but lost three strokes over the last four holes. He had an off day 3 which pushed him down, if not a top 15 was on the grabbing for him.
In segment B, Sri Lanka’s private entry, Thejas Rathis Kanth wrapped up his campaign tied for 20th with a gross score of 327, gaining valuable exposure to high-pressure competition.
