Afghanistan completed a 2-0 sweep of the two-match Under-19 ODI series when they defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the second game played at Tolerance Oval, Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Electing to bat first Sri Lanka put up a poor batting display to be dismissed for 161 off 36.5 overs with off-spinner Vihas Thewmika being the top scorer with 33 off 52 balls. He shared in partnerships of 52 with Duvindu Ranatunga (28 off 35 balls) and 23 with Vishwa Lahiru (13* off 15 balls) to lift Sri Lanka from a hopeless 86-8 to their final total.
Sri Lanka’s batting was undone by two left-armers – fast bowlers Faridoon Dawoodzai (3/30) and spinner Kamran Hotak (3/36).
Afghanistan knocked the runs off in 32.3 overs scoring 162-4 with Numan Shah contributing an unbeaten 72 off 67 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes).
