Sri Lanka Air Force Commander and Air Force Sports Council (AFSC) President Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe felicitated its top sports achievers for 2024 at a ceremony which took place at their Headquarters recently.
The ceremony honoured sportsmen and women in various disciplines including boxing, weightlifting, judo, lifesaving, karate, wrestling, shooting, volleyball, handball, archery, taekwondo, squash, netball, and golf. These individuals have demonstrated outstanding performance at defence services, national, and international sports championships.
In addition, individuals who have achieved excellence at the above levels were recognised and rewarded by the AFSC President.
In addition to honouring specific individuals, the Sri Lanka Air Force Commander acknowledged the dedication of Wrestling Coach Sergeant D.A.W. Kumara, Volleyball Women’s Team Coach J.A.D.N.R. Corporal Jayakodi, Boxing Coach S.P.C.S. Jayathilaka, and Judo Coach P.G. Sunil for their contributions in upholding the prestige of the Sri Lanka Air Force in the field of sports.
