Air Force records second win of the season

Sri Lanka Air Force SC recorded their second win of the season when they edged out Sri Lanka Army by 17 points (2 tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) to 14 points (2 tries, 2 conversions) in their Inter-Club rugby match concluded at Ratmalana yesterday.

At the short breather, Army-led 14/10.

Air Force put their first points on the board when Gayantha Iddamalgoda was on target with a penalty kick. But later in the first half he missed two more kickable penalties for Air Force.

Shashika Fernando scored Air Force’s first try with Iddamalgoda converting and the home team took a 10/0 lead. Army came into the game through their playmaker Nalaka Maduranga’s try with Chamod Fernando adding the extra points. On the stroke of halftime, Ashan Bandara scored the soldiers’ second try and converted it to take the lead 14/10 at half time. 

After the turn around, Nirmal Wickremasinghe touched down for Air Force and Iddamalgoda’s conversion took them to safety at 17/14.

Today there will be two matches down for decision in Colombo. CR will host their traditional rivals Havelock SC at Longdon Place and Kandy SC will play against Navy SC at Welisara.
