Aitcheson College’s soccer team calls on Pakistan High Commissioner

A 15-member soccer team from Pakistan’s prestigious Aitcheson College, Lahore, paid a courtesy call on the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmat yesterday at the High Commission’s premises.

The soccer team of Aitcheson College was in Sri Lanka to play a three-match series against British International School, Gateway College and Elizabeth Moir School. The team won the match against British International School by 4-0 whereas the match against Gateway College ended with a draw by 2-2. The remaining fixture was to be held yesterday afternoon. While welcoming the players, High Commissioner Dr. Hashmat said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka have consistently maintained close, cordial and mutually supportive relations at all levels. He underscored the close sporting ties the two countries share and expressed the hope that these ties will continue to grow and flourish.

The players expressed their satisfaction over the warm welcome, hospitality and support extended by the local authorities during their stay in Sri Lanka.
