Akbar Brothers continues winning streak in basketball

Akbar Brothers Ltd. finished its group games unbeaten to progress to the semi-final round after beating John Keells Holdings at the 30th Mercantile Service Basketball Association B division tournament played at Royal indoor stadium on Monday.

In its previous encounters Akbars had convincing wins against Hatton National Bank and Union Bank with scores of 93 to 42 and 91 to 71 respectively. 

The match with John Keells Holdings was evenly poised at the first quarter, but Akbar’s lead through in the second quarter was 15 to 34 in its favour at half time. In the third quarter, Keells fought back and put the Akbar boys in foul trouble.  However, the tea masters held sway, and completed the game with a 50 to 69 win to see them through to the Semi-final.

The two Semi Finals will be held on Thursday 10 November at Royal indoor courts at 5.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.
