All coaching vacancies will be advertised in the press by Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) this was disclosed to Daily FT by its President, Rizly Ilyas after their Exco meeting which took place yesterday via online.
Earlier, former England Sevens captain Ben Gollins was tipped to take over the top position as the Head of Rugby. Now this position along with Men’s Assistant coach and Women’s Assistant coach both are to be advertised and a suitable candidate to be selected for the Asia Rugby Sevens 2021. SLR President Rizly said: “I think it’s fair for us to have a transparent manner and let the technical committee select the suitable candidates.”
The three-leg events will take place in South Korea and UAE. Sri Lanka was to host the last two events but due to the current health situation in the country these two events were awarded to UAE.
This leaves SLR with only one XV-a-side event in November when they get the green light to host the Asia Rugby Top 4 among Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Taipei and South Korea which is scheduled to take place at the Racecourse rugby ground.
