Asia Cup blow for Sri Lanka: Kusal, Avishka test COVID-19 positive

Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup preparations took another blow when batsmen Kusal Perera and Avishka Fernando tested positive for COVID-19 and are now under observation.

They are believed to have picked up the virus during the latter stages of the Lanka Premier League.

Both players will have to return negative test results before they can become available.

Perera who has not played ODI since 2021 was included in Sri Lanka’s 15-man squad for the Asia Cup, while Fernando who has not played an ODI since January largely due to injury was one of the standbys.
