  • Sri Lanka secures remarkable 6th position

Sri Lankan Junior Golfing duo of Reshan Algama and Kaya Daluwatte ended on a remarkable 6th position out of the 17 countries represented with 28 teams at the Asia Pacific Junior Golf Championship 2024 which ended in Manila, Philippines yesterday.

Sri Lankan team finished the tournament with a total score of 1 under par, a remarkable feat playing among the best in Asia and some top teams from Europe as well. This good performance placed them in the 6th position overall.

Reshan Algama, maintained his composure throughout the championship, carding a gross score of 213 to finish in the 6th position in the individual event. His performance was remarkable considering the high-calibre field he was competing against.

Kaya Daluwatta, probably best junior player Sri Lanka has ever produced, also made a significant impact on the tournament. The young golfer displayed her power on the greens, recording a 4-under-par performance and securing a top-5 finish with a gross score of 216. Both golfers’ top performances secured a berth for Sri Lanka at the next event in 2025 as well.

Both players were dividends of the hard work put in by Sri Lanka Golf and its Junior Sub Committees. Both Kaya and Reshan are coached by Jehan de Seram.
