Asia Pacific Rally champion Gaurav Gill visits Sri Lanka powered by Mobil 1™

The AMG Speed at Night, Pannala Circuit Meet powered by Mobil 1 rumbled to life on 8 and 9 September to massive acclaim. 

Over 10,000 spectators were kept on the edge of their seats watching each glorious race roar on with a spectacular group of speedsters taking to the tracks, burning rubber, guaranteeing thrills and exceeding all expectations. 

International racing superstar and Asia-Pacific Rally champion Gaurav Gill visited Sri Lanka over the weekend to participate in the AMG Speed at Night, Pannala Circuit Meet powered by Mobil 1. Gauruv took part in the SL-GT up to 3500cc class along with the best line-up of Sri Lankan racers and was seen in an intense bumper-to-bumper battle with pole sitter and Sri Lankan champ Ashan Silva. Unfortunately Gaurav experienced transmission failure and had to slow down after the third lap but still managed to stun audiences and finish second in the race whilst Silva went on to take the chequered flag and claim victory. The entire crowd was ecstatic and in a frenzy watching the APRC champion going wheel-to-wheel against the Sri Lankan champ Silva while the battle lasted during the first few laps.

“It was truly spectacular having the international racing sensation Gaurav Gill racing against some of our nation’s finest at the Pannala Circuit Meet. It was an honour watching a man of his skill wowing the crowds but also inspiring racers to see a true master of his craft at work,” said McLaren’s Lubricants Ltd. Head of Marketing Dilan Seneviratne, who went on to thank Gaurav sincerely for taking time off of his busy APRC schedule to come race here in Sri Lanka. 

Seneviratne also thanked the Asia Motor Racing Club, who together with Mobil Sri Lanka initiated the efforts to bring Gauruv in for this spectacular meet.
