Sri Lankan rugby outfit under Roshan Weeraratne will leave for Malaysia for two warm up matches on 30 April. The selected pool will undergo a team building session for three days at the Navy Camp in Welisara. This was supposed to begin today but was postponed due to the prevailing situation in the country.
Sri Lankan outfit will return to the island in one week and then prepare for the Asia Rugby Championship Division 1 in Taipei. This will take place during the last week of May. Sri Lanka, Taipei, Singapore and Philippines will lock horns in the four team event where Sri Lanka will face Philippines in the opening game. Sri Lanka opted out of the XV’s event last year but were lucky enough to be granted with a berth in Division 1 without any demotions. Champions of this event will get promotion for ARC Top 3 in 2020 while the 4th placed team will be demoted to Division II in 2020.
