Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) was recognised again as a full member by Asia Rugby (AR). Earlier AR suspended SLR in a meeting which took place in Thailand by the AR Executive Committee.

The EXCO decision to suspend SLR membership was made in accordance with AR articles and regulations to maintain principles of equality, transparency and accountability. This was done by AR after the withdrawal of the Gazette notification making it possible for AR to lift the suspension.

SLR HQ sealed off

SLR Head Quarters was sealed off by Officials of Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs after the subject minister appointed a Working Committee recently.

Sri Lanka will be permitted to play under the Sri Lanka national flag for the Asia Rugby 2023 two legs event plus the Asian Games in China. Asia Rugby First leg will take place in August 2023 while the second leg in October 2023. Both venues are yet to be finalised by AR yet. Meanwhile the Asian Games will take place during the month of September 2023 in China.
