The Asian Rugby Sevens 2020 series, which was to be hosted in China, South Korea, and Sri Lanka, were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic around the globe.

As per the original schedule, the three events were to take place in August and September 2020. Now Asia Rugby (AR) has cancelled all the shorter-version games, including the Under 20 Men’s and Women’s sevens, for 2020. During October to December 2020, only the top three between South Korea, Hong Kong and Malaysia plus the Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 will take place along with the Under 19 event.

Sri Lanka is scheduled to host the XV a side Division 1 in Sri Lanka during November/December this year, while the Under 19 Top 4 too will take place during December wither in Kandy or Colombo.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) looked disconnected when they named the squad for the Sevens (Men’s and Women’s) along with the XV a side events, when AR has already taken a decision to cancel the sevens event for 2020.
