Asian Seven Series Colombo Leg Need to take things positively: Aussie rugby player Louise Borrows

Asia Rugby hosted for breakfast all the women’s captains of the eight participating teams of the Asian Rugby Series Colombo leg at the Galadari Hotel in Colombo.

The guest speaker of the event former Australian rugby player (hooker) Louise Borrows (Cookie) said: “I was fortunate to play in four Rugby World Cups. Continuous training, quick recovery from injury, and being open for feedback on the areas for improvements are important for all players. I was the youngest to play in the Rugby World Cup and ended as the oldest in my last RWC. I started in 1995 and want to give something back to rugby. I was sad to lose out on the 2010 appearance but still, life goes on.”

She concluded: “I mainly played as a hooker but sometimes as a tight head and loose head prop as well. Whenever the team requires it, you should be able to give out your best in any position, coming out of your comfort zone. You always do the best for the team and never give up.”

Dhashma Karunaratne, Commercial and Marketing Manager of SAGT, who are the sponsors of Women’s Rugby of Sri Lanka, said: “I am fortunate to speak a few words at the breakfast forum to leaders of Asian Rugby.
