Asitha takes over as Maliyadeva Rugby Head Coach

Former St. Peter’s College, Kandy Sports Club, and national player Asitha Ratnayake took over the head coaching role of the Maliyadeva College Under-19 rugby outfit for the 2024 rugby season.

Asitha represented the Peterite outfit from 2008 to 2010, ending in the Triple Champion outfit. In his last year, in 2010, he represented the national youth outfit. After leaving school, he played for Kandy SC from 2011 to 2017.

He started his coaching stint with the Trinity under-14 outfit in 2017 and 2018. The very next year, he was promoted to under-19 forwards coach. He shifted to the Antonians Under-16 Head Coach role in 2022, and his last year in 2023, he was the forwards coach, working along with Srinarth Sooriyabandara who was the backs coach.
