Gayanga Roshan from Assetline Leasing became the first centurion of the ongoing MCA ‘E’ Division 25-over league tournament, played for the 16th DPGC Challenge Trophy and sponsored by the David Pieris Group of Companies, which continued last weekend.
Roshan hit a swashbuckling 124 not out off 76 balls inclusive of 6 sixes and 18 fours, as he propelled Assetline Leasing to 201 for 5 in 25 overs but Roshan’s effort did not bear fruit for DPMC as MAS Active ‘A’, riding on the solid batting efforts of Nirvana Abeysekera (53), Rohan Wijesekera (39), Kanishka Abeywardena (49) and Viraj Nishantha (32 not out), nosed through to win in 24 overs (202 for 5).
The weekend’s other top performers were Sayuru Udukumbura for LOLC (5 for 22 vs. Astron Lanka), Pasan Samarasekera from Emerchemie NB (96 vs. AIA Insurance), Kasun Liyanage from Brandix Essentials (98 not out vs. HSBC ‘A’) and Nishika Silva from HSBC ‘A’ (81 vs. Brandix Essentials)
