Acuity Securities emerged champions at the Annual Association of Primary Dealers (APD) Cricket Sixes held at the NCC grounds recently.
The team from People’s Bank emerged runner-up. The event, which was a very keenly contested competition, was worked out for the third year and saw the participation of all primary dealers, namely Acuity Securities, Bank of Ceylon, Capital Alliance Ltd., Commercial Bank, First Capital Treasuries, Natwealth Securities, NSB Fund Management, People’s Bank, Sampath Bank, Seylan Bank, Union Bank and WealthTrust Securities.
After the preliminary rounds, the semifinals were worked off between Capital Alliance and People’s Bank and Acuity Securities and WealthTrust Securities. In the first semifinal, People’s Bank chased down the total of 39 posted by Capital Alliance in their allotted 5 overs, while in the second semifinal, which was a relatively high-scoring game, Acuity Securities chased down the total of 103 posted by WealthTrust Securities in their allotted 5 overs.
The winning team was captained by Trevin Fernando and consisted of Niresh De Silva, Mohammed Aman, Jayanga Fernando, Brindley Fernando, Nisal Mendis, Pradeep Wanniarachi and Srimal Fernando, while the runner-up team was captained by Chandana Samarasinghe.
