Avinesh and Surain stamp their class

Ever-reliable golfer Avinesh Naresh Kumar won the annually-held Captains Cup at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Course (NEGC) recently. He had a net score of 69. The evergreen Surain Premathilake came second with a score of 71. 

Another golf sensation, Haroon Aslam, was third. In total there were more than 100 golfers who teed off in this colourful annual event which attracted a large crowd. Defending champion, Chamara Abeyrathne, however found going tough finishing 16th. Another player with potential, Tharanga Gunasekera, ended in 10th place.

The Club AGM (Annual General Meeting) which was scheduled for the weekend will now take place with the availability of the Special General Meeting (SGM) minutes for its members.

Meanwhile the annually conducted Graham Sinclair Cup, which took place on the opening day, has been declared null and void due to a fault in the ground marking.
