BOC Hockey Team wins A division championship at ‘Nationalized Service Hockey League Tournament’

The Bank of Ceylon’s Hockey Team won the 2018 Nationalized Services Tournament A division final matches with a score of 4-3 (penalty) over Central Transport Board. The final match was held recently at the Astro Turf Ground Colombo 07. 

The A division consisted of three teams coming from Bank of Ceylon, Ceylon Transport Board and Port Authority. The Bank’s team was led by the Captain N.G.L.S. Hansajith (Koggala regional centre) and the vice captain C.J. Thennakoon. Other team members were B.M.C.B. Gurusingha, V.A.R.P. Vithanarachchi, P.G.S. Polwatta (goal keeper), M.G.T.A. Wijerathna, W.R.J. Keshara, K.M.M.D. Silva, M.D. Manawadu, D.M.A.K. Gunathilaka, W.M.C. Dissanayaka, R.K. Gamage, N.R.A. Jayawickrama, W.M.S.S.B. Wijesundara and W.C. Dias. The team coach A.M. Perera, Bank’s sports club President D.P.K. Gunasekera, Vice President H.P.K. Silva, General Secretary P.H.U. Imalsha and Secretary for Hockey S.A.B. Ekanayaka were also present to witness the victory of the BOC Team.

The team’s W.M.C. Dissanayaka, R.K. Gamage, K.M.M.D. Silva and N.G.L.S. Hansajith scored one goal each driving the team to a championship title in the league. The team spirit, effort and commitment and the support extended by the sports club led players to showcase their best performance despite challenging weather conditions.
