Bad weather plays havoc with SLC Major Club 3-Day

Bad weather played havoc with the SLC Major Club 3-Day matches yesterday, with not a ball being bowled in seven of the eight matches.

The only match where some play was possible was at Police Park, where defending joint champions Police SC carried their overnight total from 127-3 to 208-5, adding 81 runs in 16 overs in reply to Negombo CC’s 407-7 declared. Police SC skipper Ashen Bandara top scored for his team with 84 off 66 balls (13 fours, 2 sixes). The match ended in a draw.

There was no play on the second day of the match between Moors SC 275-7 and Nugegoda SWC at the De Soysa Stadium, Moratuwa. Sithara Gimhan had to sit on his century for yet another day (92* off 151 balls, 10 fours).

The opening day of the match between Bloomfield and Chilaw Marians CC did not materialise at the Bloomfield Ground.

Both matches will be continued today.

There was no play on the third and final day in the following matches which concluded yesterday:

  • Badureliya SC (423-8 decl.) beat Ragama CC (122 and 112-5) in first innings at Maggona
  • Panadura SC (366) beat Colts (345) in first innings at Panadura esplanade
  • BRC (218 and 51-3) beat Kandy Customs CC (131 and 268) on first innings at BRC grounds
  • nTamil Union (299) beat Kurunegala YCC (222 and 12-1) in first innings at P. Sara Oval
