The third Rev. James Cartman Cup played between Wesley College, Colombo and St. Benedict’s College, Colombo ended in a draw on Saturday at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.
After been put to bat first, St. Benedict’s College posted a solid first innings total of 298/7 thanks to the well-compiled half-centuries made by Sharujan Shanmuganathan (98*), Viduneth Wilson (73) and Sheron Kannangara (68).
In reply, Wesley College faltered with the bat and were bowled out for just 185 runs despite Uvin Perera scoring a brilliant knock under pressure. Chamath Chathurya was the pick of the bowlers for the Bens as he grabbed 4 scalps for 51 runs.
After being asked to follow on, the Wesley batters showcased a much-improved batting display in the second innings, posting 260/8 at the close of play on day two. Disula Yapa (59), Rukshan Tharanga (53) and Uvin Perera (49) impressed with the bat scoring vital knocks.
The limited over match will be played on Saturday at the SSC.
