Bentota Ceysands Resort and Araliya Resorts clinch Travel Trade Softball Cricket 6s

NH Bentota Ceysands Resort and Araliya Resorts and Spas triumphed as the new champions at the 43rd Travel Trade Sports Men’s and Women’s Softball Cricket “Sixes” 2024, sponsored for the 19th time by Aitken Spence Travels, which concluded on 6 October at the Shalika Grounds.

In the Men’s tournament, featuring 69 teams, NH Bentota Ceysands Resort defeated Wild Coast Tented Lodge, Yala by 18 runs in the final. Meanwhile, in the Women’s tournament, with 18 teams competing, Araliya Resorts and Spas claimed victory over Acorn Group “A” by 5 wickets in the final.

In the play-off for third place in the Men’s tournament, Cinnamon Bay, Beruwala, overcame Cinnamon Wild, Yala, while in the Women’s tournament, Connaissance de Ceylan secured third place by defeating Sofia Colombo. 

Men’s tournament results: 

Quarter finals:

  • Cinnamon Bay, Beruwala, 90/4 beat Sri Lankan Airlines, 62/4; Bentota Ceysands 73/2 beat Jetwing Travels, 37/4; Connaissance de Ceylan, 35/3 lost to Wild Cost, Yala, 39/0; Cinnamon Wild, Yala, 44/3 beat Exotic Holidays, 42/4

Semi Finals:

  • Cinnamon Bay, Beruwala 35/2 lost to Wild Coast, Yala, 37/1; Bentota Ceysands, 70/1 beat Cinnamon Wild, Yala, 35/4.

Play off for the 3rd Place :

  • Cinnamon Wild, Yala, 29/4 lost to Cinnamon Bay, Beruwala  32/1

Final: 

  • NH Bentota Ceysands Resort 56 for 03 in 04 overs beat Wild Coast Tented Lodge, Yala 38 for 4 in 4 overs.

Women’s tournament results:

Quarter Finals:

  • Connaissance de Ceylan, 63/2 beat Sri Lankan Airlines, 53/1; Avani Resorts, Kalutara, 50/0 lost to Araliya Resort, 54/0; Cinnamon Grand, Colombo, 47/2 lost to Acorn Group “A” 48/0 ; Sofia Colombo, 42/2 beat Butterfly Vacations, 33/3.

Semi Finals:

  • Connaissance de Ceylan, 50/2 lost to Araliya Resort, 53/0; Sofia Colombo, 61/2 lost to Acorn Group “A”, 64/0.

Play off for the 3rd Place:

  • Sofia Colombo, 58/2 in 04 overs lost to Connaissance de Ceylan, 64/1 in 3.2 overs

Final:

  • Acorn Group “A” – 62/1 in 04 overs lost to Araliya Resorts 65 for 0 in 3.1 overs
