Thomian player Malith Perera on a powerful run against Kingswood
Thomians survived what was an unexpected Kingswood fire play not only to beat them in the end but also to grab the bonus point to register 28/17 win at Mount Lavinia last weekend.
Thomians scored four tries and converted all of them while the lads from Randles Hill scored two tries, two conversions and a penalty.
For the hosts Malith Perera and Yehan Bulathsinghalage stood out while for the Kandy outfit it was once again their deputy skipper, Ishan Inoon who stood out. He was lightning fast in attack and in defence rock solid with some fine cover tackles.
Thomians drew first blood in the 5th minute of the game through Malith Perera try. Yehan Bulathsinghalage added the extra 2 points. Sevens minute later Thomians touched down again this time through Viyaan de Silva. Bulathsingalage was on target with the kick at goal.
Imanka Ishara their skipper put over a penalty to cut the deficit to 11 points. Next couple of minute Thomians were reduced to 14 men allowed Tharindu Ishara to cross over for their first try. Imanka Ishara added the extra 2 points to take the short breather 4 points behind at 10/14.
After the turn around Thomians scored their two tries through Malith Perera and Shan Udugama. Ever reliable, Bulathsinghalage was on target with all 4 kicks at goal having a good day with the boots. Meanwhile Kingswoodians’ solitary second half try was scored by Bowdeen Ahmadin scoring with Imanka Ishara adding the extra two points not to just bow down in Colombo but giving a good fight back to the gritty Thomians outfit.
