Book on Laws of Cricket handed over to first-class umpires and umpire educators

Sri Lanka Cricket recently handed over the book titled ‘Tom Smith’s Cricket Umpiring and Scoring’, which covers the Laws of Cricket to its first-class umpires and umpire educators.

Written by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the Custodian of the Laws of Cricket, this fully revised edition covers all the changes made in the 2017 Code up to the second edition (2019) and provides umpires, scorers and all other cricket lovers with a detailed and a straightforward analysis of the Laws of Cricket. 

Initiated by the Umpires Committee and the Domestic Cricket Division of the SLC, the book will help umpires gain an in depth knowledge of the game of cricket and also look for an interpretation of a specific law, a point or guidance on how to handle difficult on-field situations.

22 first-class umpires and four umpire educators were handed these books during a ceremony held at the Sri Lanka Cricket premises recently.

Umpires Committee Chairman Deepal Mad-urapperum, Secretary Wasanthalal Fernando, Domestic Cricket Head of Operations Chinthaka Edirimanne, Umpires Committee Members Mohamed Siddeek and Manuja Kariyapperuma graced the occasion.
