The oldest rugby encounter in schools and the blue-ribbon encounter in the country, the Bradby Shield will see its 74th edition being worked off on 21 April and the return leg on 5 May.
First leg will be a tournament game which will take place at the Royal Sports Complex with the return leg at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekelle two weeks later.
Royal will be defending the Bradby Shield plus the Singer League this year. They will be led by dashing winger Shabith Feroze while Trinity will be led by Avishka Shiek. The Chief Guest for the first leg will be 1981 Royal skipper Sujeewa Cooray while the Kandy leg will have 1981 Trinity skipper Ravi Bandaranayake.
At present Trinity leads the tally 39/32 with two games ending in a tie (1992 and 2016). The Trinity 1992 outfit was led by Himesh Gunatilake while Rahul Karunahilake led the 2016 outfit.
