Four Sri Lankan cricketers who were at Pallekelle training joined Kandy Tuskers yesterday

Kandy Tuskers who lost out on their two icon players, Chris Gayle and Sohail Tanveer will be strengthen with the inclusion of Zimbabwe player, Brendon Taylor and South African pacie Daryl Steyn. 

Brendon will be in the country tomorrow while the South African pacie will be coming to Sri Lanka on 27 November after the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Both these players were in sparkling form with Brendon Taylor scoring a quick fire century against the Pakistan outfit in Pakistan. Both these latest inclusions will miss out on the first few matches due to quarantine requirements.

Earlier Kandy lost out on Chris Gayle who pulled out at the last moment due to personal reasons and Pakistani pacie Sohail Tanveer who was tested positive for COVID-19 is likely to miss at least 10 days of action. Tanveer who was tested at the Airport in Katunayake was immediately transferred to the quarantine hotel in Ranna close to Tangalle.

Kandy Tuskers were further boosted with the return of their Sri Lankan national players Kusal Mendis, Kusal Janith Perera, Lasith Imbuldeniya and Dilruwan Perera who joined the team from the national training which took place at Pallekele in preparation for the South African tour which will take place in December. All four players reached Hambantota yesterday and will train with the team at the Sooriyawewa ground today at 6 p.m. under lights. Kandy has got Murid Naveenulhaq and Gurbaz Rahmanullah both from Afghanistan, former Indian players Irfan Pathan and Munaf Patel (India) along with their latest inclusion, Brendon Taylor and Daryl Steyn. 

Team is coached by former Test cricketers Hashan Thilakratane with Farveez Mahroof being the team manager. Kandy Tuskers will play their first encounter on the opening day (26 November) against the Colombo outfit under lights at 7:30 p.m. Out of the eight matches Kandy will have five night encounters in Hambantota.
