Bridgetines shine at Total Gym Tournament in Malaysia

The talented gymnasts from St. Bridget's Convent Colombo 07 showcased their exceptional skills at the 8th Total Gym International Gymnastics Tournament, held at The Summit USJ in Malaysia from 18 to 21 August 2023. The event brought together participants from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia.

The Primary Gymnastic Teams of St. Bridget's Convent coached by Indika Thushara delivered outstanding performances. With dedication, determination, and grace, these young athletes demonstrated their commitment to the sport, making their school and nation proud.

The highlight of the tournament was the Gym Dance (Under-12) category, where St. Bridget's Convent Colombo 07 left an unforgettable impression. The school's teams, named Team (C) secured the 1st place position, showcasing their exceptional synchronisation and coordination. Not far behind, Team (A) claimed the 2nd place position with a remarkable performance. Team (B) also shone brightly, securing the 6th place position and adding to the overall success of St. Bridget's Convent.

In addition, the collegiate school team coached by Sachin Sulakshana competed in the (Under-15) Gym Dance category and secured the 6th place position, further highlighting the school's overall success at the tournament. The school's achievement is a testament to the dedication of the gymnasts, their coaches and the Primary School Principal Rev. Sr Priyangani Hathurusinghe, Primary school PT teacher Anne Fernando, Collegiate school PT teacher Hemanthi De Zilwa and Gymnastics Teacher in Charge Madusha Wijesundera. 

The tournament provided an excellent opportunity for the gymnasts to compete on an international stage, fostering friendship and healthy competition among the participating countries.
