British School Girls’ Under-16 football team
The British School in Colombo (BSC) emerged champions of the International Schools Under-16 Girls’ Football Tournament when they defeated Colombo International School (CIS) 2-0 in the final encounter played in Colombo recently.
The BSC Girls’ remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, and they displayed their prowess by scoring as many as 14 goals and conceding only two goals to their opponents.
In the preliminary round, the BSC hammered Lyceum International School 8-0 and followed up with another convincing 2-1 victory over Elizabeth Moir School before overcoming Lyceum International School 2-0 in the semi-finals.
The standout player for the BSC was their playmaker Samadi Kotagama, who was later selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
The champion British School Girls’ Under-16 football team was coached by Manjula Sirisena and Sean Connolly.
