British School regain Girls’ U15 cager title

British School Girls’ U15 Basketball Team with officials  


 

The British School in Colombo regained the Inter-International Schools Under-15 Girls’ Basketball Championship when they defeated Horizon College, Malabe  43-36 in the final played at the Nalanda College Basketball Courts in Colombo.

The British School Girls’, who were the runners-up last year, made a fine impact in this year’s tournament as they went on to emerge unbeaten champions for 2024.

They began their campaign with two convincing first-round victories over Lyceum Ratnapura (29-7) and Lyceum Nugegoda (18-14) respectively.

In the quarter-finals, they edged out Colombo International School 29-26 and followed up with a smashing 33-19 win over Elizabeth Moir School in the semi-final encounter.          

The British School also bagged two special awards at the tournament as Eliana Perera was named Most Valuable Player and Thooba Basheer was selected as the Best Offensive Player.
