Buwaneka, Ranthushka, Dilmi and Ranithma win singles finals of NE Open Badminton Championship

• Summer Season Open Badminton Championships finals today (27)

The finals of the Summer Season All Island Open Badminton Championship organised by the Central Province Badminton Association together with Nuwara Eliya District Badminton Association under the patronage of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association will be held today (27) at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council Indoor Stadium.

Dilmi Dias and Ranithma Liyanage qualified for women's singles final while the men's singles final will be played between Buwaneka Goonetileke and Ranthushka Karunatilake. Senuka de Silva of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda will meet Akila Edirisinghe of Thakshila College, Horana qualified in under 19 finals.

Buwaneka Goonetileke beat Rasindu Hendahewa (21-13, 21-14) while Ranthushka Karunathilake beat Viren Neththasinghe (24-22, 21-16) to enter the finals. Dilmi Dias defeated Madushka Dilrukshi (21-16, 21-18) while Ranithma Liyanage defeated Panchali Adhikari (21-10, 21-18) in the women's semi-finals played yesterday.

The tournament will be held in accordance with COVID-19 rules and regulations of the Ministry of Health.

The finals will be telecast live on www.srilankabadminton.lk and the Facebook page of Sri Lanka Badminton and Sri Lanka Badminton YouTube channel as well as PEO TV channel 20 from 2 p.m. today.
