Boys from Vidyartha College and Girls outfit from Pushpadana College made sure that the C Rugby Cup for 2023 will stay in the Hill Capital for yet another when they teamed up together to defeat another home team combined between Kingswood College and Girls High School 2/1 in the Cup final which concluded last weekend at CR and FC rugby ground under lights in front of a packed ground.
Plate final was won by Wesley and Methodist who beat Dharmaraja and Mahamaya 2/1 in the final. Meanwhile the Bowl was won by St. Peter’s and Holy Family Bambalapitiya defeated Isipathana and St. Paula Milagiriya 2/1.
Past students of Royal/Visakha, Isipathana/St. Paul’s, St. Joseph’s/St. Bridget’s, Kingswood/Girls’ High School Kandy, Wesley/Methodist, D.S. Senanayake/Sirimavo Bandaranayake, Ananda/Musaeus, Trinity/Hillwood and Ladies, S. Thomas’/Bishop’s, St. Anthony’s/Good Shepherd Convent Kandy, St. Sylvester’s/St. Anthony’s Girls School, Dharmaraja/Mahamaya, St. Benedict’s/Good Shepherd Convent, Vidyartha/Pushpadana, St. Peters/Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya and Thurstan/Rathnayake Balika Vidyalaya participated in the 16 team event at the CR and FC ground.
The event was organised for the seventh time by AGOAL International, headed by former Isipathana College, CR and FC and National rugby player and renowned rugby referee Dilroy Fernando.
