The Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents (CASA), the voice of the shipping industry, organised the 21st CASA Annual six-a-side Softball Cricket Tournament on 9 February at the NCC grounds.
This is the most awaited sporting event of the year for all CASA members and the popularity of the tournament has grown over the years not only among the members but also with other stakeholders due to the high standards maintained by the organisers during the game.
This tournament was initiated many years ago, with the hope of building camaraderie amongst employees of different shipping agents, which has undoubtedly contributed to building a better working relationship amongst these shipping agents.
Apart from CASA members, every year there is active participation of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), South Asia Gateway Terminal (SAGT), Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT), Sri Lanka Customs, Colombo Dockyard and this year Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) which makes the tournament more competitive and glamorous.
BTL Lanka Ltd. emerged as the winners of the Ladies tournament whereas Salota International Ltd. won the Gents tournament. SLPA won the mini-tournament which was played between SLPA, SAGT, CICT, HIPG, Sri Lanka Customs and Colombo Dockyard. HIPG emerged as the runners-up in the mini-tournament.
Fairfirst Insurance Ltd. was the main event sponsor of the 21st CASA Annual six-a-side Softball Cricket Tournament which was also supported by many sponsors and advertisers who helped make the event a great success. The event was graced by the Managing Director of SLPA and top officials of SLPA, SAGT, HIPG, CICT, Sri Lanka Customs, Colombo Dockyard and other stakeholders.
