The CCC School of Cricket started by former Nalanda College coach Nelson Mendis on the invitation of Thilanga Sumathipala and Shammi Silva, two stalwarts of CCC Gymkhana Club who also happened to be two cricketers from the same school, who learned their basics under Mendis, will celebrate their silver jubilee on Saturday 20 January at Bishop’s College Auditorium, 3:30 p.m.

The school which began with six students in 1998 today boasts as the premier cricket coaching school in the country with 360 students on roll and 14 coaches. The CCC School of Cricket, are the pioneers to introduce many tournaments since 2004 that have been emulated by many cricket academies in Sri Lanka.

The school undertook their first foreign tour in 2002 but since the covid-19 epidemic, they have not been able to tour. However tours to Dubai, India and Malaysia have been planned for 2024-25.

In 2018, the school introduced a special tournament named ‘Talent Search Tournament’ where each and every student (both boys and girls), participate in different age groups from 8-19 years in seven groups. During this tournament, each student is given a chance to bat, bowl and field, while many are also given the opportunity to captain or be vice-captain of their age groups. This has become one of the most popular tournaments for students and is keenly followed by parents.
