A swashbuckling half century by top order batsman Pavan Ratnayake (51 off 26 balls, 5 sixes, 4 fours) guided Citizens Development Business (CDB) to a comprehensive five-wicket win with 38 balls to spare over Fairfirst Insurance at the 31st Singer-MCA Super Premier League 2024 T20 final, concluded on 14 January at the MCA Grounds.
Fairfirst Insurance, sent in to bat, scored 170-9 in 20 overs, riding on the solid half century by Anuk Fernando (51 off 37 balls, 4 sixes, 2 fours).
CDB raised to their target in just 13.4 overs (171-5), with Pavan Ratnayake and Sonal Dinusha (36* off 17 balls, 2 sixes, 2 fours) engaged in a hurricane 55-run stand in 25 balls for the fourth wicket.
MCA-appointed Match Referee Basil Perera picked Pavan Ratnayake (CDB) as the Man of the Match.
The other two special awards offered went to Movin Subasinghe (CDB), who was named Best Bowler, and T.M. Sampath (Hayleys Group), who was awarded Best Batsman.Thus, the curtain came down on the 31st Singer-MCA Super Premier League 2024, with debutants Maliban Biscuits being the League Champion and Fairfirst Insurance winning the Knockout tournament.
Awards were given away by Chief Guest Singer Sri Lanka PLC Senior Manager Promotions K.D.S. Kanishka, along with MCA officials President Mahesh de Alwis, General Secretary Rohan Somawansa, and Tournament Committee Chairman Lakmal de Silva.
