Interesting clash is on the cards, when unbeaten, Citizens Development Business (CDB) will take on Fairfirst Insurance, in the 31st Singer-MCA Super Premier League 2024 T20 Final, on Tuesday, 14 January (Thai Pongal day) at the MCA Grounds, commencing 10 a.m.
The final will mark the completion of MCA Super Premier League 2024, having earlier completed the ‘League’ and the ‘Knock-out’; Maliban Biscuits won the League and Fairfirst Insurance won the knock-out.
The T20 was conducted with the participation of five teams on a single group and at the completion of the round robin (10 matches), the first two teams in the points table to play in the final; at the completion of the round-robin, unbeaten, CDB finished on top and Fairfirst Insurance came in second.
CDB convincingly won all of their four matches, beating Fairfirst Insurance by 3 wickets, BBK Partnership by 4 wickets; Maliban Biscuits by 7 wickets and Hayleys Group by 6 wickets.
Fairfirst Insurance had two wins, against Hayleys Group by 17 runs and BBK Partnership by 4 runs; their match against Maliban Biscuits was washed out and they lost to CDB by 3 wickets.
CDB is led by Tharindu Rathnayake and Fairfirst Insurance is led by Moditha Ranatunga. The MCA appointed match referee for the final is Basil Perera.
