CH & FC sink Navy SC with 11-try blitz

CH & FC delivered a commanding performance against Sri Lanka Navy SC, securing a resounding 69/24 victory at the Racecourse ground.

The match, which saw CH take a 29-17 lead at halftime, was defined by their attacking flair and clinical finishing.

Harsha Maduranga, Janidun Dilshan, Ravindu Aniula, Dilhara Ranasinghe (2), Nirosh Perera (2), Pasindu Bandara, Roshen Kumara, Maliksha Perera, and Thanuja Maduranga all crossed the whitewash for CH & FC, showing their depth in attack. Fly-half Janith Chandimal was instrumental in converting six tries, while Harsha Maduranga added another conversion to round off an outstanding performance.

Navy SC fought hard, with Thilina Weerasinghe leading the charge, scoring a try, three conversions, and a penalty. Apoorva Wijesinghe and Isuru Perera also touched down, but their efforts were not enough to contain a rampant CH side.

The second half saw CH shift into top gear, dominating possession and exploiting defensive gaps with precision. Their relentless attacking strategy left Navy struggling to contain the onslaught, ultimately resulting in a lopsided scoreline.

CH played poorly this season, failing to end no less than two matches, plus a defeat against debutants Sri Lions, securing fifth position, while the Sailors, who had a disastrous season, ended without a single win, ending in ninth position.

The Welisara outfit will need a minimum number 8 position at the end of the Super Round; if not, they will not be able to feature in next month’s Clifford Cup knockout encounters.
