CH continue winning streak

CH and FC continued their winning ways in the Inter Club Rugby League Plate Segment encounter when they outclassed Sri Lions SC by 47 points (7 tries, 6 conversion) to 20 points (3 tries, 1 conversion, 1 penalty) at Ratmalana last evening.

At the short breather it was Sri Lions who led 17/14.

CH produced some magnificent running rugby in the later half but the debutants, Sri Lions failed to respond. Sri Lions played well in the initial half but ran out of steam as they could collect only 3 points in the later half where the CH outfit ran circles in Ratmalana by scoring 33 points.

CH skipper Janidu Dilshan, Pulasthi Dassanayake, and Roshen Kumara were outstanding. Meanwhile Sri Lions lacked the fitness and finishing touches to their moves and failed to pace out the entire 80 minutes of play. Former Peterite and skipper, Kevin Dixon coming back from injury and Dinuk Amarasinghe played their hearts out.

Sri Lions drew first blood in the third minute of the game through Pranith Silva but CH hit back within 2 minutes through Nitosh Perera try and Janith Chandimal conversion. Pulasthi Dassanayake scored CH and FC second try in the 16th minute of the game. Janith Chandimal converted to take 14/5 lead. Sri Lions hit back with back to back tries through Janith Chandimal and Pranith Silva tries to take the lead 17/14 at the short breather. 

After the turn around, it was one horse race as CH scored tries through Roshen Kumara, Nirosh Perera, Ramesh Fernando, Janidu Dilshan and Pulasthi Dassanayake. Dinesh de Silva converted 4 of them in the later half. Chanaka Chandimal added a solitary penalty for Sri Lions during this period of time.

Referee was Nalin Lasantha. 

In another Plate segment encounter Sri Lanka Army outplayed Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club 48/27 at Panagoda last evening.

Referee was Kelum Sandaruwan.

The battle for the Plate segment is heated up between Police, CH and Army. Navy who are yet to register a single win in their 10 outings face the exit from Clifford Cup knock out encounter as well.
