CH out for winning start in Super Round

CH & FC will be kicking off the Super Round expecting a win when they confront lowly placed Navy Sports Club who are still looking for their first win this season. This encounter will be worked off at Welisara on 14 February.

Kick-off is at 4 p.m.

CH, one of the talented sides missed out on their Cup segment finish as they could not end on the winning side in no less than two games. Led by Janidu Dilshan and coached by Sanath Martis, they are nothing short of talent but not pacing out the entire 80 minutes of play been their major issue this season.

Disappointed but need to move forward and they can’t drop down on any of their four games with major threat coming their way against Army who are in the same segment later on. Mohamed Absal is another player who could be another player to be watched out the CH.

Navy SC under Stephan Gregory are going through one of their worst patches in the rugby season failing to win a single encounter this season. They have Thilina Weerasinghe and Shabith Musheen in their outfit. They need to get their winning ways to end at least on Number 8 in order to avoid any humiliation not to be part of the Clifford Cup knock-out rugby which will be played among the top eight teams in March this year.

Referee Charani Liyanage will officiate her second A Division encounter.

Police hold the edge

The Sri Lions Sports Club vs SL Police Sports Club Match to be played on 15 Febrary at Air Force Grounds in Ratmalana will be hosted by the debutants Sri Lions SC. Kick-off is at 4:15 p.m. Police, one of the most disappointed teams in the league not been able to end in the Cup segment after securing the Clifford Cup last year. As a team they failed to deliver the goods though got some big names in their team as a unit failed to impress.

Hirantha Perera, Akash Madushanka, Shane Hopewood and Lahiru Thilakaratne have been their stand out players this season. Coached by Nilfer Ibrahim, Cops can’t ask for anything more but the players to perform in field.

Meanwhile Sri Lions, on their debut year impressed with two wins against Navy and a special one against CH. They have major injury worries with more than 10 on injury list including their skipper, Kevin Dixon who was out for last couple of games. Dixon is expected to return from this game taking over from Chandimal.

Referee Sarah Madugalle will get the opportunity to blow this encounter.

Army SC will have a free week without any games while the Cup segment between the top four teams, Kandy SC, Havelock SC, CR and FC and Air force will kick off in one week time. With the first set of games worked off between Kandy SC vs. Air Force at Ratmalana while CR will host Havies at Longdon Place.
