CIMA Sports Day 2019, organised by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Students’ Society, was successfully held in September at the Thurstan College grounds for the 22nd consecutive time.
This year’s theme ‘Unite in Strength’ reflected the unity and diversity of the teams, bringing out the essence of true sportsmanship in every participant.
Covering a wide range of sports such as cricket, tag rugby, futsal, basketball, netball and swimming, the event was brimming with the enthusiasm of participants, who represented corporate teams, CIMA institute students, other educational institute students and individual teams as well. For the first time in recorded history, Imperial College of Business Studies emerged as the Overall Champions of CIMA Sports Day and won the coveted CIMA Sports Day Shield. Additionally, they clinched the trophies for cricket and futsal.
The Wisdom Business Academy emerged as the first runners-up of the event, and were the champions in basketball, netball and swimming.
Celebrated former Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Kulasekara attended the event as its Chief Guest.
No Limit, Sri Lanka’s largest fashion chain, was the Strategic Partner of the CIMA Sports Day 2019, for the fifth consecutive year.
