The winners of the NDB Private Wealth Junior Masters Golf Championship 2018
A significant and overwhelming response is seen for Sri Lanka’s most popular junior golf tournament, the NDB Private Wealth Junior Masters Golf Championship. Last year’s winners Colombo International School represented by Reshan Algama and Kvahn Tejwani to defend the schools team event. We are likely to see a strong challenge from British School and Ladies College. Many national, private and international schools have already signed up for this year’s championship and are elevating the level of the sport across Sri Lanka.
Developed with the driven goal of enhancing junior golf at schools-level in Sri Lanka, the championship is focusing on creating team competitiveness and encouraging participation at schools around the country.
To-date numerous schools including The British School in Colombo, Ladies College, St. Thomas College, Colombo International School, St. Joseph’s College, St. Peter’s College, CMS Girls School, Royal College and Asian International School have registered, with several more schools expected to join prior to applications closing on 21 October. The championship has drawn in entries from outstation schools such as Anuradhapura Central College, Kilinochchi Central College, Dehigaha Land School Hambantota, and St. Xavier’s College Nuwara Eliya showing a keen interest to participate at this year’s event.
Scheduled to be held on Friday, 25 October, at the Royal Colombo Golf Course (RCGC), registration desk at Sri Lankan Golf office will remain open till 5 p.m., 21 October. Players can also apply via local clubs island-wide or by contacting Chandana at the Sri Lanka Golf office or emailing him at [email protected].
This year too, the competition will host the Team Event open to students from any registered national, private or international school in Sri Lanka. Schools may field one or more teams of two players below 19 years. Team pairings can be 2 girls or 2 boys, or 1 girl and 1 boy, where all will play 18 holes. Playing tee markers will be as per the Senior or Junior Individual Events specified below and the winner of the schools Team Event will be the team with the lowest aggregate score.
NDB Private Wealth Junior Masters Golf Championship will continue its highly popular Individual Event, which as of last year has been narrowed down to a Senior and a Junior Division, as well as being further broken down into a Boys and a Girls competition. Junior golfers will compete for the following titles: Senior Division (over 12 years and below 19 years) – Boys Winner, Boys 1st Runner-up and Boys 2nd Runner-up; and Girls Winner, Girls 1st Runner-up and Girls 2nd Runner-up. Junior Division (under 12 years) – Boys Winner, Boys 1st Runner-up and Boys 2nd Runner-up; and Girls Winner, Girls 1st Runner-up and Girls 2nd Runner-up.
