CR aim winning end to league while Air Force out to create upset

CR & FC will end their Inter Club League campaign when they host Air Force SC under lights at Longdon Place in their Cup segment encounter tomorrow.

Kick-off is scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

Currently placed third, CR will be eager to secure a victory and regain confidence ahead of the upcoming Clifford Cup knockout tournament. Meanwhile, fourth-placed Air Force, having impressed this season, will look to finish on a high and create an upset. CR will be led by Lasindu Karunathilake, the dynamic number eight and former Science College standout. The CR outfit will rely heavily on their key performers such as Mursheed Doray, Omalka Gunaratne, and Thenuka Nanayakkara, who have been instrumental throughout the season. This match will serve as a crucial regrouping opportunity for CR as they aim to bounce back strongly after the defeats at the Kandy SC. However, they will be without Adeesha Weerathunga, who is side-lined due to injury. Manilka Ruberu is set to make his return, adding much-needed experience and creativity to the backline.

Air Force SC regular skipper, Rumesh Wasantha will miss out this encounter due to an injury and his position will be taken over by Sharaka Werella. Maleesha Weerakoon and Ishara Madushanka will be the key players to watch for Air Force.

While Air Force will be determined to cause an upset, CR’s experience, home advantage, and returning key players give them the edge.
