CR & FC after climbing up to second in the table have done well in the recent past, and now will be up against a decent Army side in what is expected to be a good battle between two well-balanced sides
Led by Omalka Gunaratne, with some star class players such as Kevin Dixon, Reza Rafaideen, Dinuk Amarasinghe and Reza Mubarak, CR will be a tough nut to crack, and the Longdon Place club should hold on to second place though there is still quite a gap to first.
Meanwhile Army’s inconsistency has cost them big time in recent games, and as such Senanayake, Rizvi, Gayan Salinda and Dikkumbura will need to play major roles if the Radhka Hettiarachchi coached Army are to get on top.
Elsewhere, Police should not have much difficulty in beating last-placed Air Force at Police Park today, while Havies and CH & FC will be a close battle - though the fitness level of CH will likely be exposed. Havies too dropped out will need to make a bold comeback before the kick-off of the Clifford Cup knock out rugby early next month.
Unbeaten Kandy SC should continue their winning form in their last game in front of a Colombo crowd, with bheir last three games plus the Super League set to take place in Nittawela. While Nigel looks a doubtful starter, the rest of the players will be at Welisara with all eyes on Tharinda Ratwatte who is having a grand season for the up country unit. Which means Navy will need to fire on all cylinders if they are to get on top of Kandy. They could unsettle them, but pulling off a win at home will be close to a miracle for the Sailors.
