Nethmi Senaratne led her team Colombo South to victory over Galle One in the final of the Girls Under-19 Youth League played at Rangiri Dambulla Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Nethmi struck a superb unbeaten half-century off 44 balls inclusive of six fours as Colombo South coasted to an easy eight-wicket win overhauling Galle One’s total of 81.

Nethmini took the Player of the Final award of Rs. 25,000. As champions Colombo South were awarded a cheque for Rs. 300,000 and they also won the Best Bowler of the Tournament award of Rs. 50,000 which was presented to Nipuni Navodya.

Runner-up Galle One received Rs. 200,000. The Player of the Series award of Rs. 75,000 was won by Dewmi Vihanga of Dambulla, and the Best Batter award of Rs. 50,000 by Sumudu Nisansala of Galle One.

The awards were distributed by Women’s Cricket Operations and Development Consultant Manuja Kariyapperuma, Women’s cricket SLC Convenor Apsari Tillakaratne, Head of High Performance Centre Tim McCaskill and former Sri Lanka Women’s captain Shashikala Siriwardene and Co-ordinator Logistics Indrani Ariyaratne.
