National cricketers Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Ramesh Mendis and Kamindu Mendis will lead the five teams respectively in the upcoming National 4-day Super League due to commence on 19 January at seven venues.
The five teams consist of several national cricketers plus those who have performed well in the domestic circuit last season.
Interestingly, national Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne will play as deputy to Kusal Mendis in the Colombo team, while two other former captains Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal will play for Galle under the captaincy of Ramesh Mendis.
SSC and R. Premadasa Stadium will be the venues for the opening fixtures on 19 January with Colombo playing Kandy at SSC grounds and Dambulla taking on Galle at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
P. Sara Oval, Pallekele, Dambulla, Hambantota and Galle are the other venues that will be used for the 13-match tournament which will run till 5 March and will be a forerunner for selection of the Sri Lanka squad for the two Test matches in New Zealand.
