Carrom Federation to go to polls on 6 November

The due election of the Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) will be held on 6 November. The election as delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the objections raised by the Nationalised Services Carrom Association (NSCA) and NSCA affiliates. The last tenure of the CFSL ended last May and the election was delayed to the pandemic as well as objections raised by NSCA and its affiliates who failed to continue their membership since 2017 due to non-renewal. 

The Election Committee was appointed at the SGM held in 2019 and comprises Dharmasena Kahandawa, Rtd. Addl. DG of Customs (Chairman), Shelton Premaratne, Rtd. Staff Officer of Survey Department and D.D.A. Senadira, Rtd. Staff Officer of CMC, who rendered excellent service for sports.

Nominations were closed on 8 September and opened for objections until 21 September. It was reported that posts of Gen. Secretary, Treasurer, Tournament Secretary, and Asst. Treasurer would be uncontested and election for President, Vice Presidents, Asst. Secretary, and the 10 committee members would be held on 6 November at the Duncan White Auditorium of the Sports Ministry, Colombo 07.

Therefore, Daya Widanagama, present General Secretary, Sunanda Kodagoda, Media Officer, Amitha Wickramasinghe, Tournament Secretary, and Kamala Abeyweera will be uncontested.
