Batsmen Dasun Shanaka from Sampath Bank, Dilshan Munaweera from Commercial Credit and Shanuka Dulaj from John Keells and bowlers Duvindu Tillakaratne and Ishara Amarasinghe, both from MAS Unichela, stole the limelight at last week’s matches of the ongoing 25th Singer-MCA Premier League 2018.
Dasun Shanaka hit a classy 107 to propel Sampath Bank to a fine 51-run win over Kanrich Finance.
Dilshan Munaweera scored a belligerent 90 to help Commercial Credit to go over the 300-run mark and beat Hayleys by 112 runs.
Duvindu Tillakaratne (6 for 20) bagged his second six-wicket haul in the tournament for Unichela, as he skittled out HNB for a paltry 76 runs in 27.2 overs. Unichela shed little sweat on reaching 78 for 2 in 8.3 overs.
Tillakaratne earlier on bagged 6 for 30 against Kanrich Finance.
Amarasinghe (5 for 39) from Unichela stalled John Keells’ spirited run chase, helping his team record a close 24-run win.
In the same game Shanuka Dulaj remained unbeaten on 92 for John Keells, but his gutsy effort was in vain.
